2008 Season TO ALL FISHING ENTHUSIASTS: Now is the time to arrange your summer fishing trip to Hakai Lodge . We are just beginning our 36th year at Hakai. Fishing seems to be getting better and better each year since the Canadian Government practically eliminated commercial salmon fishing in our area about eight years ago. However, some of the runs were delayed and arrived at Hakai Lodge later than expected for the second year in a row. There were tons of fish but they could not come into the river systems until the heavy rains hit late in the season. The new main page picture is a 59 pound King caught in very early August. All projections, including ours, are for a banner year in 2008. The possession limits remain unchanged and are eight salmon and three halibut per person. The great weather conditions in the North Pacific Ocean are holding for at least another year and are resulting in plentiful food for the increasing size of all the Salmon runs we are seeing recently. Be sure to browse our new pictures from the 2007 fishing season. Also, watch our website for special offers and cancellation specials. We also post announcements regarding limits and other news affecting sports fishing in general in the Hakai area. Remember the 5% discount for making your reservations on-line. The 8% price increase for 2008 is primarily to cover the 40% increase in our cost of buying Canadian dollars and for the major increase in fuel and freight cost for the resort. Business is good and reservations are already coming in fast for the 2008 fishing season, so make sure to book early to get the perfect dates. YOU could be the one to break our 76-pound record - someone has to do it!
