Q: What should I bring?

A: You should bring the following items:
  • Camera & Film
  • Foul Weather Gear

  • (Helly Hansen ® type including waterproof foot gear)    
  • Informal Clothing

  • (Temperatures are cool averaging 55-70 degrees)  
  • Liquor - Canadian Customs Law allows each person to bring 40 oz. of alcoholic beverage duty free. We have beer for sale at the camp.
  • Duffel bags - not suitcases.
  • US Passport - now required for flying across the US-Canada border.
Please Note:    Fishing gear is provided at no charge; but if you have a favorite salmon rod and/or reel, bring it along. We recommend Penn 209 or comparable reel with 30 lb. test line and lightweight mooching rods 8-11 feet long. No tackle boxes please.   [ menu ]  
Q: What should I NOT bring?

A: Please do not bring the following:
  • Suitcases - suitcases will not fit in the airplane, (weight limit is 20lbs. per person). The primary reason for this limit is safety and to provide space for your fish on the return trip.
  • Tackle Boxes - we will provide everything you need.
  • Cellular Phones - there is no service in our area.

Q: How much is the Fishing License?

A: A 5 day fishing pass issues for around $33 (US). Single day fishing passes may be acquired for less.   [ menu ]  
Q: How far in advance should I make my fishing trip reservations?

A: The sooner the better! We begin receiving bookings for fly-in salmon fishing trips a year in advance, so to ensure peak fishing season preference and to accommodate your schedule - - CALL NOW!   [ menu ]  
Q: What's my limit?

A: In accordance with Canadian Law, each person can bring eight Salmon home. This law is strictly enforced and there will be a Fisheries Officer at Hakai Pass this summer. The Government will also require a fishing license which you may purchase at the Lodge.   [ menu ]  
Q: What about special events?

A: Yes, we welcome special events at no extra charge. If you're planning a birthday or anniversary at the Lodge please let us know so we can give advance notice to our chef and staff.   [ menu ]
