Great Fishing Needs a Great Location.
|
The
location
of
HAKAI LODGE
is carefully chosen for the ultimate
salmon fishing lodge location.
Although it is popular to go fishing for salmon near rivers,
salmon actually begin their dying process once they reach fresh
water.
The salmon we
catch at Hakai are weeks or even months from entering the fresh
water – and they are in the peak of their life.
This makes for thrilling, explosive action once you hook one
of our
giant King or Coho salmon.

Catch
trophy salmon and huge halibut.
|
|
We
enjoy
consistent fishing
and a
long, steady fishing season
at our camp location in Hakai Passage.
Giant 20 – 80 pound Chinook salmon
run all season.
Fiesty northern
Coho, up to 24 pounds, peak during the
season.
The
fish-infested waters
are always abundant with
king salmon, halibut, seabass, red snapper, sockeye, coho, chum, steelhead,
and
sea bass.

|
Healthy,
silver salmon.
|
|
You
will notice as you tour this website that the
salmon our guests catch
at Hakai are a bright, healthy silver color.
Compare this to the darkish or reddish color of salmon caught
once they reach fresh water.

Fishing in the Hakai Pass.
|
Hakai
Pass is
located
in the North Pacific Ocean off the west coast of
British Columbia, Canada.
The Pass provides
abundant fishing
in the
quiet, fish-infested waters , a prime location for our salmon fishing lodge.
We are north of Seattle and Vancouver Island, and south of
Alaska, south-east of the Charlotte islands.
If you prefer halibut, you will be delighted with the giant catches on your halibut fishing trip to Hakai!

Hundreds of islands provide shallow feeding grounds and exciting sport-fishing.
|
|
Hakai
is
located
in the midst of
hundreds of small islands
and
islets.
This provides seemingly endless areas of calm water and kelp,
which attract herring in the top 20 feet of water.
As salmon can see up but not down, we fish in the top 12 –
15 feet of water as they feed in these shallow, calm waters.
The islands and islets also keeps the tidal flow very gentle,
making it a natural place for
trolling,
mooching
and
motormooching.
|
|
|
Pristine natural wilderness.
|
|
For
the outdoors enthusiast or natural photographer, Hakai provides a
beautiful, tranquil wilderness setting.
Wildlife enthusiasts and photographers will enjoy sights of
bald eagles, mink, deer, otter, osprey, and varied shellfish.
Explore the miles of
sugar white beaches, piled high in
places with driftwood, and the hundreds of
untouched, uninhabited islets.
